  1. I can’t fit him to our squad in my head but he is a player ı love personally. Free kick merchant. Maybe we can use him as an playmaker we will see.

Fuck me what a signing, don’t care if he’s not amazing on the ball he’s still a top player

  3. Yeah really not sure how he fits in. Definitely not ahead of _England international_ MGW. My preferred midfield at present would otherwise have been Anderson and Sangare, so does he replace one of those? I’m not convinced JWP is defensive enough to play in more of a 6 role.

Surprisingly smart of us that this is a loan, was really hoping it would be when we were linked. On balance we probably could do with temporary Danilo cover as he won’t train until December, he’s also 29 and would have virtually no resale value if we straight up bought him.

He’s worth bringing in just for his set piece ability but I’d be surprised if he’s a regular starter ahead of Anderson; the rest of his game just isn’t that great. Still a good signing though.

We desperately need better delivery for set pieces and he’s one of the best in the world at dead ball situations. I think people are really underselling how useful that will be, it’s not just that he’ll score a few directly.

He will be in rotation given how much quality we have in that midfield 2 though.

  6. I suppose the want is to shove him on with Wood and stick balls in the box constantly if our new possession based or old counter attacking strategies.dont work. I can’t recall our last headed goal (I also can’t recall what happened an hour ago so this is likely more about me than reality?).

I can definitely see us chasing a game and his delivery being a real asset in the last 20 mins.

JWP dropping some bombs into a box containing Milenkovic, Boly and Murillo sounds rather fun.

He has captained forest to the champions League several times on my football manager saves, I for one would be ecstatic if we can pull this one off. No idea why they would let him go, brilliant player

  9. Honestly I don’t know where he might go in the squad – but considering how much of an expert he is at set pieces he’s going to be a god-send in training. Who better to get in practice and training against top quality set-pieces than him after all? Genuinely thinking his contribution off the pitch will be more important than on it.

Edit – the above in considering that we’ve been crap in the past at defending set pieces, but I think part of that comes from us being unable to deliver good set pieces in the first place, so how in the hell are you meant to set up training when you can’t deliver a threat in the first place? We’ve looked better against set pieces in the first couple of matches this year but we were a liability in dead-ball situations last year. Might be smart..

  10. Man, I’ve got BBC sport news live on the other monitor at work and this hasn’t even been reported yet.

Imagine how we’re gonna look on set pieces now.

Yates gets fouled. JWP takes a sweet free kick to Yates. Rinse and repeat three times. Then we are within shooting distance. Like American football basically.
