Good evening Cityzens,
I hope this post is allowed, I don't use Reddit all that often.
Unfortunately my brother Michael passed away last Friday at the age of 27 after a 10 month battle with cancer, 11 days after his 27th birthday. We were sadly told on his birthday of all days that he was end of life after multiple courses of chemo didn't resolve his illness. He loved watching City from a young age & for his 27th birthday we got him the new away shirt with his name and age on the back. It was bittersweet to watch City play against West Ham and beat them in that shirt over the weekend & we shed a few tears during + after the match.
He was staying in The Christie Hospital in Manchester as part of his treatment & the amazing staff at the hospital and at Manchester City arranged for a Rodri signed shirt to be hand delivered to him by the club as the hospital staff found out he loved City. Fortunately he managed to see the shirt a few hours before he passed & he was well and truly over the (blue) moon about it. It was a beautiful moment seeing him with the shirt and we are so so happy he got to receive it in time.
I felt compelled to post this really so he isn't forgotten and to maybe have a few City fans spare a thought for him really as well as thanking City for what they did.
I have included in this post a picture of him during a stadium tour sat in Doku's seat as he is one of his favourite players as well as a photo of me and my mum with printed shirts in his memory outside the Etihad yesterday. We've also planned a City themed funeral for him & he is being buried in a City shirt too, which we are really happy and proud of.

Sending you much love & support.
Rest in power Michael, fuck cancer. đ
Itâs always devastating to lose a fellow City fan. I know The Christie well, they are fantastic and Iâm glad they could provide at least some slight comfort.
He will not be forgotten – I know Iâll be thinking of him at the Brentford match đ
Rest in peace, my condolences.
Can someone get this to Doku and/or the media person that also noticed the call for the clapping in the Ipswich game?
Ride on. A real one passed but we keep moving

This kind of post is the best use of Reddit, friend. Sending you and your family love from across the pond. Your brother will certainly be in our thoughts next Saturday and beyond. Weâll never see a finer #97.
Sorry for your loss, May God bless him with peace and you all with patience
Rest In Peace. So sorry for your loss. 27 is way too young.
Heres to Michael. I lost my sister to this wretched disease. And I send my all to familiar condolences to you and your family. I hope he finds all he wants in his next, and know he will be singing right along at every matchâŠ
Even with all our riches our club is significantly poorer with the loss of a true fan RIP
Rest in Power Michael đ

Hey, Iâm so sorry. I really hope he had a good life until his passing.
Not to under cut your grief but itâs been a horrible year for me and the shit that is cancer, so this is cutting me deep. We had to put down one of the most special dogs last week (lymphoma), beginning of August would have not have said she was even sickâŠ. And thankfully, we got the all clear early this year as my 2 year old son had a lymphoma scare, he just had a bad infectionâŠ.
So yeah I really feel for you, I really hope you and your family are ok, especially your parents, losing a kid is possibly the worst thing I can imagine. I feel heart broken for you guys. Iâll keep your brother in my thoughts for the next match.
My deepest condolences to you and your family. I know far too many people (myself included) who have been impacted by cancer.
Would you mind sharing a bit about your brother so we can know just a small snippet of who he was?
Iâll be thinking of him when I watch City this season. May his love for the club help us make it 5 in a row! I agree that we should somehow get this to the club, it would be amazing to have you and your family be able to attend a match and have the fans pay tribute to a fellow City fan. CTID, *and then some*. May your brotherâs memory be a blessing to you and your family.
Thanks for sharing this and extremely sorry for your loss. Sending you and your family lots of positive waves and peace
