He’s got proper character hasn’t he. He bounced back so well from when he was getting sent off every other week and all the Leeds fans were calling him League One Liam.

Ballsy move to go abroad at his age, fair play to him.

Ive got a lot of time for anyone who manages to stretch out the talent they have further than you expect, and coops is definitely one of those guys.

Obviously not a perfect player by any means, but hes been one hell of a captain for us and I hope he smashes it in Bulgaria

Unbelievable captain, and a bloody good player. Obviously not perfect and he deserved criticism at times, but nobody worked harder for the shirt and he deserves to be remembered fondly.

  4. 10 years at a club is like a decade-long relationship with a football! Here’s hoping he finds a new field to kick around in.

  5. Every player from that era thanks Bielsa first and foremost. He must have been an incredible manager and man.

Cooper epitomises side before self, every time. Great captain on and off the field.

If ever a player embodied the Ups and Downs (TM) it was Coops.

Leeds fans will of course recall the ghosts of Basham and Marriott, but never forget the goal at Brentford to break the Griffin Park curse and stop the winter rot in its tracks.

After that performance Leeds’ defence was (statistically by goals per game, before you start) the very best in Europe until Covid. When we returned, following the defeat to Cardiff, Cooper was immense once more. His reaction to the final whistle against Barnsley was all of our reactions.

A defender who far too often bore the brunt of the fanbase, and not always with good reason – yet he never complained, never reciprocated, didn’t yield.

We will miss the likes of Captain Coops in the years ahead, across all of football – they simply don’t make them like that anymore.

  7. Fantastic captain and representative of the club. He did a lot for the children’s hospitals and charities around Leeds and truly lived to the ethos “Side before self, every time.”

  8. As a CSKA fan, I am really happy with this transfer we need a leader in defence badly after the worst start in our club’s history
