Fucking corrupt cunts. So what if he’s already on a yellow? They seem so keen to send him off.

  2. Classic gaslighting propaganda from webb and Owen in full force.

Biggest takeaway from hearing the audio was another reminder of how unprofessional the refs communication is. Highly concerning how quick they concluded it had to be a second yellow card and completely passed over the Veltman aspect without a second thought.

Additionally found it Incredibly outrageous to say he was forced into the decision when he had the autonomy to ignore it in the Pedro incident.

  3. >Referee Chris Kavanagh told Declan Rice he “doesn’t like the rule” for booking players who delay restarts – as the official sent the Arsenal midfielder off for a second yellow

Cool mate. Neither do you or your colleagues 99% of the time considering you rarely if ever give yellows for it. Absolute woodlouse of a man

  4. I’ve got no choice… get the flying fuck outa here. Use your fuckin brain and give a warning when someone is on a yellow. What a knob. Relegate this man to the championship along with City.

  5. Genuinely thought this was one of those parody write ups people do.

Absolutely astonishing it’s the real thing, actual bunch of clowns.

  6. I thought this was a parody when I read it.

They sound exactly like bent coppers psyching themselves up to abuse their authority.

TIL corruption has the the same stink no matter what line if work it’s from.

  7. This is on the assistant referee imo. I don’t think CK saw it but as the assistant referee made him aware of it, he had “no choice” as I believe (I could be wrong) it goes under a different process.

  8. Okay I thought VAR couldn’t be involved for yellow cards?

    Secondly, balls still moving

Thirdly very fucking late to put this out

    Fourthly where’s the consistency?

I find it strange that I’ve never once heard a referee quoting an actual rule in any of these released audio clips from VAR. Not just specific to this incident; I’d like to see them showing why they’re refs in the most funded league on the planet and there’s no excuse when they have so many camera angles of every incident.

  10. I’m very much looking forward to all the yellows he’s going to hate giving out for all the delayed restarts this season…..

Can’t believe they made themselves the victim before even giving the booking, it’s either a necessary defence mechanism you develop as a referee because you get abused a lot or it’s a way of shirking any responsibility for your decisions.

Either way it’s making everything they do tinged with personal attachment which is exactly what you don’t want when they are supposed to be following a rule book.

  12. that’s the only discussion they have? or are they hiding other discussion point? like the throw the ball at declan feet? declan not seeing? are they giving to pressure/yelling/complain of other team like they did with newcastle against us during the surrounding the referee incident/game? they seems giddy as well trying to give double yellow to saliba with the ridiculously undeserved early yellow especially considering city is the next game.

please keep tabs on these corrupt referee shenanigans and report it to arsenal through letters/emails

  13. “Look after yourself” …. wtf. The referees in the premier league are shocking. It’s actively damaging the league’s brand.

Completely ignoring rice being punted in the leg or the other team punting the ball to the other end of the pitch

  15. peoplepersonmanguy on

    What should have happened.

VAR: Ball would have been rolling when Rice gets munted, no restart delayed. Possible violent conduct.

Either way we won the game that this impacted, away, at spurs, brilliant.

  16. In another universe:
*Kovacic after making a receiving a yellow and then immediately making a bad challenge afterwards*

Oliver shrugs and gives a 2nd yellow “I’ve got no choice”

Letter of the law for thee, let the game flow for me

  17. Have I just heard Howard Webb say Rice has got not reason to be anywhere near the ball? It was kicked at him ya bald fraud what do you want him to do? I’m glad they’ve got there top guy Owen on the job though bunch of donkeys.

Now that NFL is back, I’m constantly reminded that it’s so unbelievably dumb that PL referees don’t have the option to walk back the call they were about to make.

Virtually every single game has an instance of a ref throwing a penalty flag, followed by a discussion, followed by the head ref announcing “after further discussion, there is no flag on the play for [insert penalty]”. Obviously that doesn’t remove bias, but the whole “I’ve got no choice” thing despite his AR implying that sending Rice off is too harsh for the situation is absurd.

If he doesn’t give the card to Rice, life goes on and he doesn’t hear a word from PGMOL regarding the Pedro incident, but in giving the card he’s highlighted his own error from earlier in the match. Not that Webb actually gives af lol

  19. The selective application and non-application of rules are literally essential to any rule based system. Imagine a cop giving you a fine for jaywalking whilst apologizing saying ‘ive got no choice mate’. piss off.

  20. I thought VAR only gets involved when it’s a direct red card offence and not for a second yellow? If so they are breaking their own rules.

  21. Has the audio been released? I feel like the tone of the assistant ref would help understand his intentions.

It can either be read as the assistant encouraging Kavanagh to red card Rice or to warn him not to

  22. Just been watching Untold: Operation Flagrant Foul on Netflix. Carrying the whistle doesn’t make you morally just. PGMOL must be running some kind of game, purposely stirring controversy for content or betting on games with the way they referee us. It’s unbelievable.

  23. whatasave_calculated on

The ball was moving and was 5 yards from the spot of the foul, so Rice isn’t even really delaying the restart since it wouldn’t have been a proper restart, but they have the choice to ignore that I guess.

  24. At no point did anyone go “Well, the ball got kicked into him and there’s no way to play the ball had he not touched it so it’s not like a normal situation”. I don’t even get the warning. The ball got kicked into him. If you want to be technical it’s a throw in to Brighton.

Otherwise, what we’re saying is it’s legal to use players on the opposition team as an object to help position the ball off a free kick. As soon as the ball got kicked into Rice it should have caused the ref to stop play and have slow restart.

  25. “For sure the ball was moving but the actions of Rice need to be taken into account”… really? Then what about the account for Veltman swiping Rice when the ball was not even dead? How is that not a red then?

“Pedro should also have been booked and I have reiterated the need for consistency with the team”… so you’re telling me the first incident with Pedro was leniently and incorrectly called by everyone yet all eyes were on Rice when other factors were at play for that incident? No leniency our way then no? Of course the refs and VAR have their eyes on Arsenal players at all times but no one else.

Goes to show how the Kovacic one last year wasn’t given either no doubt, because it wasn’t an Arsenal player who offended.

  26. “Look after yourself” I’m crying 😭 . What an incompetent bunch of refs Jesus save us from this lot.

  27. “Those actions are intentionally designed to kick the ball away when he’s got no business going near the ball”

I wonder why he’s near the ball? How can someone, nevermind the head of PGMOL, not see the ball is kicked at Rice.
