  1. Aston Villa is pleased to announce that Kadan Young has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

Unai Emery has named the 18-year-old among the substitutes for the first team’s past two matches, including our Champions League opener against BSC Young Boys, as he works towards making his senior debut.

Capable of playing on either flank or through the middle, the skilful forward has represented England at Under-18 level and has registered two assists in two Premier League 2 matches for the club’s Under-21s this term.

Academy Manager Mark Harrison says the new deal is reward for Young’s hard work.

“We are delighted Kadan has signed a new long-term contract,” he said.

“Over the past couple of seasons, he has trained regularly with the first team and has also been involved in matchday squads. This is a well-deserved recognition for his development, which the first team have endorsed and supported.

“We will look forward to seeing Kadan develop over the coming seasons and hopefully develop into a first-team player for many years to come.”

    **Congratulations, Kadan!**

  2. Good to see. He’s still surprisingly young (ahem) at only 18 having seemingly been around for ages, rising to prominence as a 16yo when he trained with the first team and appeared in those friendlies Unai had during the World Cup break when he first came in. Young’s steadily maturing and I think there’s a player there, albeit he probably looked a slightly better prospect at 16 than he does at 18 so he’s not one where I’d see him as a shoo in to end up in the first-team squad long term. He’s definitely got good attributes for a winger though (explosive, strong etc) so he’s got a chance.. hopefully we can sort him a decent loan in Jan.
