Aston Villa Team News

  • Ollie Watkins is available despite needing ice around his ankle after being substituted in Tuesday's win against Young Boys.

  • Leon Bailey, who was an unused substitute in that game, could make his return from injury but Jaden Philogene remains out.

  • Villa could welcome back defender Matty Cash, who has resumed training following a hamstring injury.

Wolves Team News

  • Wolves will continue to monitor defenders Rayan Ait-Nouri and Toti, both of whom are nursing injuries, while Boubacar Traore will be out until Christmas following knee surgery.

  • Key players such as Matheus Cunha, Nelson Semedo and Craig Dawson are likely to return to the starting line-up after dropping to the bench in midweek.

Match Facts

  • Aston Villa are vying to win consecutive Premier League games against Wolves for the first time since 2004.

  • Wolves' 2-0 defeat in last season's corresponding fixture ended their unbeaten four-match league run at Villa Park (W2, D2).

  • Villa have conceded 26 goals in their past 12 top-flight home matches (2.2 per game), compared to just eight in their previous 16.

  • Wolves’ tally of one point from four games represents their joint worst start to a Premier League campaign, matching their record in 2003-04, when they eventually ended bottom.

  • Aston Villa can earn four wins from their opening five Premier League games for the fourth time, having done so in 1998, 2009 and 2020.

  • Wolves have won one of their past 14 league fixtures (D3, L10) and are winless in seven – losing six – since beating Luton 2-1 in April.

  • Jhon Duran has come off the bench to score the winning goal in all three of Villa’s league wins this term. No player has scored four winning goals as a substitute in a Premier League season.

  • Wolves have lost an unrivalled 11 Premier League matches since the start of March. Their return of nine points during that time is a league-low for ever-present teams.

  • All four of Wolves top-flight goals this term have been scored in the second half.

  • Ollie Watkins has been involved in seven goals in his last six home league games, scoring four and assisting three.

Wolves tend to cause us issues but I'm feeling confident on this one! How are you feeling? What's your starting XI? Predictions? UTV!

  1. Last season aside, Wolves have an infuriating habit of turning it on against Villa regardless of how bad they’ve been playing.

    UTV.

  2. Worth noting the BIG quote from Emery during [today’s presser](https://twitter.com/AVFCOfficial/status/1837126388257530265), imo.

    > “Kamara and Mings are training every day now consistently with the team, they started this week. It’s very good news.”

We’re so fucking close now. God I can’t wait for either of them back but especially Ty.

As for this game, we have momentum now, and Wolves are struggling so far. Looked better against Newcastle than they had done in their previous games, but hopefully we can blitz them like Chelsea did. 4-0 and done, Watkins, Duran, Onana and Bogarde to score. Good weekend ahead 🙂
