Tbf he has always been humble. So it doesn’t really surprise me

He has no ego and as a Belgian I have missed watching this MF play so badly
They don’t make them like him really.. Usually you have to be obsessed with the sport and/or absurdly disciplined to get to the level those guys are at
He kind of did it purely on talent and looked to be having a blast while doing so. For some reason that got him a lot of hate throughout his entire career. To me that’s a fricking role model. It’s a game after all

imo it would be close, tho i think salah is just a little better

He’s quite likeable. It’s a pity that his time in Madrid went that way and that the Belgium golden generation won nothing under Martinez.

Salah has the better career, and this footballer in terms of all its lifelike components. May be a hot take, but Hazard is the better footballer in terms of beauty of the sport, skill, technique, and natural understanding of the game.

If his fans were as humble as him, I’d have absolutely no problem with him. One of my absolute favourite players to watch, and generally very likeable. His last season at Chelsea was unstoppable.

Would anyone say otherwise?

Hazard is similar to Iniesta in the sense that you had to have seen them play to appreciate how good they were. Stats do them no justice

He does seem like a nice bloke, add that to the fact that he was a phenominal player makes it pretty hard to dislike him.

if Hazard fans could read or listen they’d be very upset now

You know back in 2019 I really had it stuck on my head that Hazard was the most overrated players in the prem.
But honestly in retrospect you gotta respect his career, man did not give one single shit and still could rip apart any defender in world football when he felt like it. If he had a work ethic he really could have won a few ballon d’ors easily.

Good on him for having the humility to say someone is better than him.

While I think Salah has had a better career overall, Hazard in his prime transcends the current era’s stat based comparisons. You really needed to watch him to appreciate the effect he had on the field. Though I couldn’t stand Chelsea he was always a joy to watch, a true magician of his era.
Edit: One of the best goals I’ve seen him score against us (potato quality)

always liked him , not his fans tho
It was always a stupid comparison but it’s no fault of his. Seems a good guy and at his peak for Chelsea was World Class.
