**Some new quotes just in to us from the Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has told our sports editor Dan Roan that a decision on Erik ten Hag’s future is not his call.**
Asked if he has faith in the Red Devils’ boss, he said:**“I don’t want to answer that question…I like Erik. I think he’s a very good coach but at the end of the day it’s not my call, it’s the management team that’s running Manchester United that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects.**
**”But that team that’s running Manchester United has only been together since June or July. They weren’t there in January, February, March or April – [CEO] Omar [Berrada], [Sporting Director] Dan Ashworth – they only arrived in July**
**”They’ve only been there…you can count it in weeks almost – they’ve not been there a long time so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions.**
**”Our objective is very clear – we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it’s not there yet, obviously – that’s very clear.”**

I mean – We hired Omar and a team for him for a reason, we don’t want Ratcliffe making these calls.

Ratcliffe saying this has made me so much happier. He’s leaving it to the football people he hired, and I love that.

Good, it would be like Woodward sacking a manger we need football men who either truly believe in ETH or not.

Reading between the lines he would sack him but gives Omar and team benefit of time.

He shouldn’t go to the Villa game. The camera will cut to and from him and Erik when we inevitably shit the bed.

Oohh.. I am on Reddit so I am just going to read the headline.
But this doesn’t sound like a vote of confidence
Edit: OK, read the article. Sensible approach from Sir Jim

So it’s down to the two guys that distanced themselves from the contract extension then. Hope that means the sack is coming.

That’s correct. Football people should decide while Ratcliff support them as long as he knows they are competent.

Leave the football decisions to the football management. Agreed.

It’s never supposed to be his call. This is on Omar, Wilcox, and Ashworth.

And to think I got downloaded to oblivion when I stated “it’s a good thing Ratcliffe doesn’t make these decisions” in response to Southgate potentially being ETHs replacement because he likes him.

This is the way it should be. Football people making football decisions instead of business people.

I don’t really believe this and think SJR is just dancing around the issue, and playing a little politics with this. It’s absolutely his call and he’ll make it based on the input from his team, which is fine and how it should run.
And even if he is 100% hands off, it also doesn’t really matter. SJR is still responsible for the outcome either way.
