    ON THIS DAY 2021:

The day we thought would never come. After fourteen years without hope, ambition, or success. After a lockdown of silence from the club after the Premier League tribunal. With the club in the relegation zone and at one of its lowest ever ebbs, things sparked out of nowhere.

The rumblings from various journalists and media outlets the previous evening, was that the piracy issue that had proved the stumbling block in the initial takeover attempt had been resolved. It was then just a case of waiting.

The Toon Army had done plenty of waiting. Fourteen years of Ashley’s ownership, the first sighting of Amanda Staveley at St James’ Park was in 2017, and the long lockdown of dreaming, as our #CANS stayed in the fridge, but ultimately, fell flat.

Outside St James’ Park, fans began to line the streets in anticipation of the announcement, giving record profits to that Tesco next to Shark Bar as all #CANS sold out. Thousands of Geordies singing, drinking, and dancing like a trophy was on its way.

Finally, after fourteen long years, the announcement came. Newcastle United had been sold to a consortium of PCP Capital Partners (Amanda Staveley & Mehrdad Ghodoussi), The Reuben Brothers, and the Saudi Arabian P.I.F.

An explosion of ecstasy engulfed Tyneside, as our dream became a reality. The fans outside screaming and celebrating will be remembered long in the history of the club. Even Sam Fender and Johnny ‘BlueHat’ crashed the party for a saxophone rendition of ‘Local Hero’ on top Sir Bobby’s statue to an adoring crowd, with their new album being released at midnight.

The Toon Army could finally, finally dare to dream. A team with ambition, a club we could be proud of, a team that tries.

    Newcastle, was now, United.

The season after was absolutely incredible, loved every minute bar 90 in February. It gave the owners a huge amount of credit in the bank going forward. Just hope we can get back close to what we achieved that season because since then we’ve not made the best choices.
