    Really happy with this, there’s a lot of good talent in our academy at the moment and he’s right up there, I would have said he was literally the number one but Broggio’s kicked on a bit this season and might have overtaken him.

    The way these things work is that you can only sign a long-term deal (of 5 years say) once you turn 18, so there’s a big inflection point in a player’s career when they pass that birthday. That’s why you sometimes see shining lights of the academy moving on early (see Carney and possibly Rory Wilson, as he hasn’t signed a new deal yet). JJA’s birthday was on the 2nd of October… and within a week we get a deal announced, very good sign that everyone is happy and focused on his future here.
