Does Bukayo catch Bergkamp?

  1. As long as he stays here for at least the majority of his career, he’s going to eclipse Bergkamp by some margin at this rate.

He’s also on track to break David O’Leary’s appearance record.

It’s even possible for him to break Henry’s goal record (I wouldn’t say it’s likely, but not impossible if he’s here another 10 years and averages 16 goals a season he will come very close to equalling it)

Let’s just all make our sacrifices to the gods to ensure he stays fit.

It’s not an “if” but “when”, and I say he overtakes Bergkamp before he’s 28.

  3. Depending on how long he stays, comfortably. If you average at 10 assists per season, in 4 years he’ll have it.

Bullishly i think Saka can be closer to averaging around 15 assists per year. When you consider our set pieces, and factor in having Kai to aim at in the box, he’s naturally going to put up higher numbers than before

  4. So the common consensus is he’ll do it providing he spends at least the next 4-5 years at Arsenal. Could become the first player in Arsenal history to achieve 100+ goals AND 100+ assists in the league for us too, now that would be special.

  5. so long as our attack can manage to convert passes to goals, yes. we will need something as close to a henry-bergkamp duo for a good few seasons.

  6. At least 1/3 of bergkamps assist is to Freddie. If Kai keeps converting, starboy will break it within 4 more seasons.

  7. I don’t think so. Bergkamp had 3 of the generational strikers at the time like wrighty, anelka and Henry. They were always scoring and lethal. The current artetaball spreads the load around and if for our captain odegard for his top assist, we still don’t score. I don’t thjnk saka can catch there. But I rather saka scores more

  8. If he spends his entire career here (hopefully) then he will pass him and likely sets several other records

  9. A few players might end up catching Bergkamp in terms of numbers but that missing the _point_ of Bergkamp.

I think for individual records, Saka has the potential to break most or all of them by the time he retires.

Yes I think he’ll spend most of if not all of his career here I don’t see him leaving anytime soon. So even if he’s here until he’s 30 then decides to go play for idk Real Madrid then 100% I see him catching Bergkamp

  12. If he stays at Arsenal his whole career

If he can avoid big injuries

If Arsenal keep performing at a high level

Then Bukayo Saka will probably be top of all the major all-time statistics of the club (appearances, assists, goals). Maybe Titi’s goals record is a bit far for a player like Saka who is more of a winger than Henry was, but even then, Saka would probably be in the top 3.

  13. Shocked no one in our history has eclipsed 100 in the league considering how many guys played for us for a very long time.

  14. It’s all down to fitness, because he won’t leave until he’s on the other side of 30, and even then, I hope he doesn’t. One club man would be an incredible throwback.

On the trajectory he’s on yes, remember he’s still very young and probably has another 10 years in him before he retires. Assuming he stays the entire time, then again, if I was arteta, I wouldn’t sell him at any cost.

  16. Can we keep this level for two more seasons?

Can our starboy stay relatively fit?

If both answers are “yes”, then I’m sure he’ll catch Dennis.

Absolutely. If he stays here until he’s 30 (likely) he gets at least 150 assists with us. No doubt in my mind.

  18. Crazy to me that with all the hype of Ozil and how big of a player he was for us early on, Saka is going to have more assists than him before he turns 24 yo… mind blown.

He’s literally the player we’ve been waiting for since Alexis. Difference is hes got a team of Goliaths to protect him.

  20. If he stays he does for sure. Bukayo is world class.

Interesting to see Ozil in the top 5 with all banter strikers he played with.

He will be here at least another 5 years, so yes, barring injury issues he should average well above 10 assists a year.

I made this point elsewhere but assists pre-2006 PL assists are not well calculated either, so Bergkamp probably would get credit for more if today’s standards were applied then. Saka has some goals where he beats two men and scores and whoever passed to him on the wing gets the assist, even though they weren’t creating the chance.

  22. If he keeps his level up he may become a lot of things. He’s just turned 23, and already has 61 goals (49 in the PL), 60 assists (42 in the PL) and 236 appearances (177 in the PL).
