  1. Honestly surprised to see Rashford so high up. He has massively underperformed at United, but he seems like a likeable and humble guy.

Mo cops a lot of shit from our own fanbase, unsure what it is. Its all love when he puts up insane numbers. Then as soon as he performs at a level that would be considered good for an average player, the calls of ‘he is over the hill, cash in etc’ come out. Its been happening for at least 3 years now and he just continues to put up elite top 5 ITW stats for a winger.

The methodology for this seems to be “an “anger” or “disgust” emotion” used in a social media post.

    Seems a bit vague.

  4. I’d be really interested to know how much of this is about how they play and how much of it is straightforward racial abuse, especially with fans that like to turn on their own players

I did see someone once racially/homophobically abuse a snooker player for making them lose a bet, which I don’t really think was about them.

  5. I don’t condone players getting undue abuse online but 6/10 being from united last season is kinda funny not gonna lie. Crazy Mo is there at all but I guess when he had that poor run toward the end of last season all the assholes came out of the woodwork.

  6. I bet mctominay is loving life in Napoli. A weight has been lifted. I bet he’s wondering why he stayed at a club that did not respect him.

  7. Tracking sentiment on social media is, for the most part, a fools errand, especially in this country where sarcasm runs rife. For example, “Mo you cheeky fucker!!” after he scores an audacious Panenka penalty would flag as negative sentiment. Whereas “Great game Mo. Class. Top drawer 🙃” after a poor performance is more likely to track it as a positive.

I’d also be curious to know what it tracks as “hate”. I wouldn’t say “An absolutely abysmal performance from Mo today” would count as “hate” for example.

  8. wtf hates on Salah. The only thing I can think of is his thirst traps compared to the repressive clothing his wife wears. That is a real reach though and I wouldn’t have thought that deserves hate.
