Koppen on Cortes: Oscar came in with a blank injury record. No injuries, no scans, everything was perfect. We’re looking into it as a club. I’m still confident in the move. We signed him on a five-year deal and still believe in his potential over a longer period.

  1. Well that isn’t true?

We had him on loan for about 5 minutes and then he got a several month long injury.

We then chose to sign him permanently despite this injury. When we actually signed him and committed several million pounds plus a 5 year wage commitment, he was injured/recovering.

I honestly can’t think of a team in the league who endure as many injuries a season as we do. For the amount of players that have came to this club with a clean injury past and then been injured while at Rangers is not short of appalling. Clearly something isn’t working right, we are systematically failing somewhere with training, recovery, sports department, scheduling, medical staff and even facilities, I mean something just isn’t adding up. I mean you can also argue that some of the pitches we play on aren’t acceptable for professional teams, Murphy at Kilmarnock a shining example, or that some teams are hammer throwers and don’t mind doing they potential career ending challenges where knocks and niggles can arise from. I do think the issue lies within though, the amount of injuries we get is obscene, players are always going to get injuries but the amount we get is definitely something to be questioned
